Chandigarh Industrial Area is located on the South – Eastern side of the city. Proximity to the Railway Station and the National Highway also prevents the movement of heavy vehicles within the city.

Industrial Area has been developed over 1200 acres in two phases, the Phase – I has an area of 776.14 acres and Phase – II has an area of 486 acres. While Phase – I and Phase – II are fully developed, Phase – III with an area of 153 acres is yet to be developed.

A total of 1966 plots have been planned in Phase I and Phase II. Smaller plots in the area ranging from 5 marla to 1 kanal constitute maximum number of plots in Phase I whereas in Phase II there are all small Industrial plots and with no large Industry.

Departments

Estate Office

Estate Office Chandigarh is performing the multifarious activities of the enforcement of Bye-Laws and Rules framed under various Act and Schemes of the Chandigarh Administration to sell Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Religious plots by allotment or Auction to people, institutions, Government Departments and maintain their records for the welfare of the general public.

Department of Labour

The Labour Department has multifarious functions to perform. This department is enforcing about two dozens labour enactments. The main function of the department is to maintain industrial peace and cordial relation between the worker and his employer. The other important function of the department is to ensure proper enforcement of labour laws.

Excise and Taxation Department

The Excise & Taxation Department is a revenue department of the Administration. It administers various Acts such as the Punjab Value Added Tax Act 2005 as extended to U.T., Chandigarh, The Central Sales Tax Act, 1956, The Motor Spirit Taxation Act, Passenger & Goods Tax Act, Entertainment & Show Tax Act and The Punjab Excise Act, 1914. Under these Acts the levies are collected by the Designated Officers within their respective fields.

Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee

The Pollution Control Board has been established as a regulatory authority for implementing various pollution control laws.The board is committed to provide pollution free environment to the people of state.

Engineering Department

The Engineering Department of Chandigarh Administration is responsible for creating entire infrastructure development in the territory of Chandigarh comprising of roads and establishment of Water, providing and laying of water supply system, providing and laying underground sewerage and storm water drainage system, distribution of electric power and construction of various public buildings.

Municipal Corporation

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC), also known as Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, is the civic body that governs the city of Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana.The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, India was formed within the Union Territory of Chandigarh under the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act in 1976. The corporation was later extended to the union territory, Chandigarh, by the Punjab Municipal Corporation Law (Extension to Chandigarh) Act, 1994 (Act No.45 of 1994), which came in effect on May 24, 1994.

Department of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology

The Food and Supplies Department functions under the supervision of the Secretary, Food and Supplies. The Deputy Commissioner, who is also Director, Food and Supplies, administers the department and day-to-day functioning is carried out by the Additional Director Food and Supplies assisted by a District Food and Supplies Officer.

Investor Facilitation Center

Industries Department looks after the all-round Industrial Policy and Promotion in the Union Territory; it provides direct assistance, regulation and coordination of Industry-promoting activities.

The Industries Department is the Nodal agency for coordination & obtaining online permissions/approvals from the concerned departments related to Ease of Doing Business in Chandigarh.

Land availability for Industries being a constraint, there is hardly any scope for further expansion of Industry as the existing Industrial Area Phase-I and Phase-II are fully developed .

Online Single Window System

Investor shall be facilitated to file a unified Common Application Form (CAF) related to setting up of new project.

A Desk Officer has been appointed for coordination and for obtaining approvals from various departments.

Time bound schedule for approvals by the departments.

Required updates shall be provided to the Investor through this system
